Looking out over the Forbidden City’s moat, The Courtyard Restaurant is a very swanky! Part of the Courtyard Gallery, which promotes contempory Chinese art, it serves asian-influenced food however we both ate the Australian fillet mignon as we had overdosed on Chinese food and just felt like a dirty big steak! That said, the steak was excellent and cooked perfectly! The only strange thing about the place is that they don’t make more use of the view they have. There are really only 3 tables in the restaurant that have the full view over the moat as the windows are quite small. Maybe they are not able to renovate due to the buildings age? So try for a table by the window and if you’re not up for asian flavours, the steak is great!!!
